NIRLEK DHULLA

NOW

As a self-taught, independent photo-documenter, Nirlek has been practicing full time photography since March 2013. He thrives on interacting with people and spaces, discovering connections and stories - emotions that best represent them. His documentation style involves a collection of mood based travel and cultural experiences.

He is currently working on a documentation project: Bengaluru: Four Bulls, a Tiger and a two headed Bird, a collaborative travel guide book project. It intends to be a unique, personal narrative based documentation (text and image) that will help people navigate the city easily and meaningfully.

AFTER

The study of individual identities and reasoning has highly influenced his documentation work. Nirlek dedicates his abilities to projects that can illustrate expression and communication, that are socially important and culturally relevant and can perhaps help serve a greater cause of reflection and consequent change. He is drawn to ideas that encourage a narrative and form a deeper connection with the subject. He attempts to bring a similar approach to his editorial assignments where understanding the issue and subject to tell a story is a core creative endeavor. The common man is both the core idea and a fellow traveller.

While every picture taken is a story that he finds on his journeys, he believes that each picture is a travelogue in itself. He is also working to add new dimensions to his work by breaking it down into physical forms. The dejaview collection of products is an attempt to dispel the popular notion that photography is elitist.  Every time someone buys or uses a product, they take home a unique experience, memory and story.
