The French jeweller and traveller Taverner called Gandikota the second Hampi, but it lies forgotten in a dusty corner of Cuddappah. The spectacular fortified village was tossed about in the turbulent histories of the Deccan; the Pemmasani Nayakas, Vijayanagara empire, Golkonda and the Mysore Sultanate and yet it remains accessible only to the ones willing to travel beyond the horizon. Stones talk here along the Pennar gorge, in the fort walls and deep within Belum, India's second largest underground cave system. (Extended Album).
